For more than a decade, Melissa Gordon has been supporting and coaching youth-serving nonprofits to perform to their fullest capacity, offering quality and safe services to their communities. She helps leaders strengthen programs, one step at a time. Whether a leader is new to the agency or has been there 20 years, her wealth of knowledge from over 10 years’ experience leading programs in nonprofits at both local and national levels gives her a vital vantage point. She first served in program leadership at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana in Louisville, Kentucky. Then she had the privilege of working with hundreds of organizations around the country in her role with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. She has developed strong relationships with agency leaders and boards by offering customized in-person and virtual consultative services. Personally, she provides pro-bono consultation work to Jacob’s Well, a transitional living home for single mothers in her community, as well as leads a team for Blessings in a Backpack, ensuring kids in her community have food for the weekend. Melissa holds a Master in Social Work from the Kent School of Social Work in Louisville, Kentucky.
Presently, as co-founder of CM Consulting Group, she is able to individually customize projects to each agency’s need, making the agency a true partner in the process. Melissa is able to train agencies on viewing their mentoring programs through the lens of poverty. At the completion of each project, agencies are able to clearly see areas of programmatic strength, opportunity, and clear steps to move forward in, strengthening their programs. As a new consulting business, within two years her firm has served over 47 agencies, in 21 states, all with excellent reviews.
